Educational Services

The Supported Education Team helps individuals with a psychiatric disability return to school. Staff offer assistance with filling out applications, securing financial aid, selecting degree programs, and individualized support to the person while they are in school. Examples of educational programs that have been attended are college, BOCES trainings, GED certification and graduate school.

Educational Services staff help people to obtain:

  • Short term goals (e.g., completion of one course)
  • Intermediate goals (e.g., completion of vocational training or a G.E.D. program)
  • Long range educational goals (e.g., completion of a degree program).

Staff will also provide career counseling regarding how present educational goals will support possible future employment goals.

Supported Education services include:

  • Assessment and Referral
  • Academic and Career Counseling
  • Benefits Counseling
  • Personal Counseling
  • Assessment of needs and advice regarding possible accommodations
  • Advocacy
  • Development of educational PASS Plans
