Unique Perspectives
Unique Peerspectives offers the services of peer support staff who promote self-help, natural supports, and alternatives to the mental health system. The Center is dedicated to the philosophy of people helping people, and to the end of discrimination and abuse of people who use mental health services. Staff and members of the Center feel free to share their experiences, strengths, hope and support with each other so that each may take charge of their own health and wellness.
Unique Peerspectives offers a comfortable, non-threatening atmosphere wherein each person is encouraged to take an active role in their recovery. As individuals define what they want to do, they will find help at the Center to do it. Some, for instance, may be interested in pursuing housing options, education or employment. Others may want to engage in the activities or groups suggested below:
- yoga and tai chi
- meditation group
- computer classes
- artistic expression
- chanting
- daily peer support groups
- Women's Peer Support Group
