Residential - Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities Residential Services Funded by the NYS Office of Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD): Residential Habilitation Services: Individuals who reside in their own homes, or in the care of their family, may choose TLS as their provider of Residential Habilitation Services. The service is personalized to reflect each individual's interests, needs, and desires. Assistance is offered in learning daily living skills, participating in social and recreational activities, and developing supportive networks. Certified Residential Programs: TLS' residential services enhance community living opportunities for adults who have a developmental disability. TLS provides participants with the opportunity to develop community skills and supportive networks which enable them to make informed choices in their lives. Areas of skill teaching include budgeting, shopping, meal preparation, use of public transportation, as well as the development of interpersonal skills and personal health care. Individuals are encourged to build a network of resources and support people who can help them achieve a sense of well being and belonging. The amount of staff support provided varies according to individual need. In most cases, staff are either on-site or available (through a system of radio pagers) on a twenty-four hour basis.
