Joe
Joe first came to TLS in 1980. He lived in a community residence and then transitioned to a supportive apartment. When TLS decided to move its services to a different apartment complex, Joe was a member of the committee to find a new location. What was important to Joe was that laundry facilities were in the building and that stores were close by. The pool was an unexpected bonus!
Eventually Joe chose to leave the Supportive Apartment Program. With the support of Outreach services from TLS, he moved into his own apartment, without a roommate, for the first time. When he injured his hip in 2002, Joe was forced to move to a nursing facility. Then, the chance arose in 2003 for him to move into a small community residence and he happily accepted the opportunity.
Joe had one dream for a very long time, which was to go to Disney World. In October 2004, he realized his dream.
