Staff Education and Development

The TLS Philosophy of Education

Our emphasis in staff education and development is to facilitate a level of sharing among the participants that will carry over to networking on the job. A key learning from the Core series is to see that every one around you is a valuable resource person. Although sessions have an informational component, we are not primarily trying to teach information, or point to answers, but rather to point to resource people and materials, and to raise significant questions in peoples' minds. Much of what we do is to reinforce key concepts and philosophical principles/guidelines of the agency so that each individual will have a strong basis for decision making within the framework of their own experience at TLS. By including experienced staff and program participants in all sessions, we encourage openness and sharing about past learning experiences that we hope will assist and sensitize, perhaps even inspire, new staff.

THE CORE STAFF EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT SERIES is acknowledged by a joint Certificate of Achievement from TLS and LeMoyne College
